"Hives of Corruption" — Major Drug Ring Busted in Fairfax County Vape Shops

​FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis didn't mince words this week, describing local vape shops as "hives of corruption" following a massive multi-agency raid. A months-long investigation has culminated in the dismantling of a regional drug trafficking organization that allegedly used seemingly ordinary "Tobacco King" and other vape storefronts to funnel illegal drugs to minors.

On March 18, detectives from the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed search warrants at 20 locations across Fairfax and Prince William Counties. The operation targeted 13 vape stores, a warehouse in Lorton used as a distribution hub, and several private residences.

The Evidence Seized

The scale of the operation was staggering. Authorities recovered:

• Massive quantities of marijuana (flower, cartridges, and edibles).

• 40 pounds of psilocybin-infused gummies (hallucinogenic mushrooms).

• Firearms and illegal pills.

• Synthetic urine kits, specifically marketed to help users cheat drug tests.

• $100,000+ in frozen assets across 30 bank accounts.

Charges Filed

Three Woodbridge men—Omar Salim (65), Saleh Salim (36), and Saed Salim (39)—have been taken into custody. All three face felony charges for Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana and Money Laundering.

Police highlighted that these shops were intentionally targeting the youth of Northern Virginia, stocking products in bright, candy-like packaging. While the bust is a major victory, officials noted that due to current loopholes, many of these shops were able to reopen their doors shortly after the raids. This investigation remains active as authorities push for tighter regulations on the 116+ vape shops currently operating in the county.
